Getting Started as a Specialist on Tutrx

A step-by-step walkthrough to set up your profile, connect payouts, publish your first engagement services, and explore the tools you'll use to teach.

    Step-by-step guide

    1. 1

      Open the Specialist Dashboard

After signing in, click 'Specialist Dashboard' in the top navigation bar. On your first few visits you'll see an onboarding checklist above your stats — it tracks the same steps in this guide, so you can either follow along here or check items off directly from the dashboard.

    2. 2

Step 1 — Complete your profile

Go to Profile in the dashboard sidebar. Fill in your full name, professional title, a clear bio, location, and upload a profile photo. Add work experience, education, technical skills, platforms you've worked on, and industry domains. A complete profile builds trust with students and improves how often you appear in search results. If you have a resume handy, use the 'Import from Resume' option to let AI auto-fill most fields for you.

    3. 3

Step 2 — Set up your payout method

Open Settings → Billing & Payments and connect your Wise account. This is required before you can publish any course or service — without it, you can save drafts but nothing goes live. Wise supports direct deposits to banks in India, the US, Canada, the UK, the EU, and many other countries. Payouts trigger automatically once a student confirms a completed session, with no manual request needed.

    4. 4

Step 3 — Publish your Outsource Work service

Engagement services are short-term, focused offerings that students can hire you for outside of full courses. Outsource Work has its own tab in the sidebar.

    5. 5

      Outsource Work service

Open the 'Outsource Work' tab. This is for students who need ongoing help with tasks at their real job — debugging, code reviews, architecture advice, or general mentorship. You can structure this as hourly with weekly timesheets, or as a fixed-price contract broken into milestones. Both flows are supported end-to-end with escrow and milestone-based payouts.

    6. 6

Step 4 — Explore the builders

Tutrx ships with three content builders that make course creation faster. You can start using these any time, and they're available even if you haven't published a course yet.

    7. 7

      Presentation Builder

Open 'Presentation Builder' in the sidebar. Create slide decks from scratch or use templates. There's an AI chat panel that can draft entire decks from a topic prompt, and a presenter mode for live classroom sessions. Decks you build here can be attached to any course or shared with engagement-service clients.

    8. 8

      Quiz Builder

Open 'Quiz Builder' in the sidebar. Build quizzes with multiple-choice, true/false, fill-in-the-blank, flash card, image-based, and order-block questions. You can generate quizzes from a topic using the AI assistant, then preview them before publishing. Quizzes attach to course modules and let you gauge how students are progressing.

    9. 9

      Lab Builder

Open 'Lab Builder' in the sidebar. Build hands-on coding labs with step-by-step instructions, code blocks, info panels, images, and checkpoints students must complete to advance. AI generation can scaffold a full lab from a learning objective. Labs are especially powerful for technical subjects where students learn by doing.

    10. 10

Step 5 — Create your first course (optional but recommended)

Once your profile is set up and at least one engagement service is published, consider creating a full course. Open Course Builder, choose between Classroom (group sessions) or your normal session format, set price, dates, and content, then publish. There's a separate help article 'How to Create and Publish a Course' that walks through this in detail.

    11. 11

      Where to go next

After completing the checklist, your dashboard surfaces your real metrics — students, revenue, clicks, and pending review requests. Use the Performance tab for a deeper breakdown of earnings and per-service activity. Use Reviews to respond to student feedback, and Messages to chat with prospective and current students. Any time you need a refresher, the rest of this Help Centre has articles for every individual feature.
