How to Accept or Decline a Service Engagement Request

Review incoming requests, accept the ones you want to work on, and what happens to escrow vs. charge-on-approval after you accept.

    Step-by-step guide

    1. 1

      Find new requests

New engagements show as 'Pending Your Approval' on the Service Engagement Requests table on your Instructor Dashboard and on the relevant service tab (Resume Session, Interview Session, On Job Support). You'll also get an email when a student requests a service.

    2. 2

      Review the request

Click 'View Details' to see the student's name, notes, pricing model (hourly or fixed with milestone split), start date if custom-contract, and any proposed rate override. If it's a custom proposal, look at how it differs from your listed terms before deciding.

    3. 3

      Accept

Click Accept. For hourly engagements, the engagement moves to 'Active' immediately — work starts now and you'll be paid each week as the student approves timesheets. For fixed engagements, status becomes 'Active' and the student is prompted to fund the first stage (full amount or milestone 1).

    4. 4

      Decline

Click Decline and (optionally) provide a short reason. The student is notified by email. No money has moved yet, so nothing needs to refund. Declining is final — the student would need to submit a new request to engage you for this service.

    5. 5

      What happens to escrow

Hourly weekly: no upfront escrow — the student's card is charged when they approve each weekly timesheet, and you receive a Wise payout after the funds settle in our bank. Fixed single-payment: the student funds the full amount into Stripe escrow on acceptance; you get paid stage-by-stage as they approve. Fixed multi-milestone: the student funds Milestone 1 first; you only start that milestone after it's funded.
